Coffee, Tea, or Dropping a Technicolor Yawn
Milo discusses a BBC report about how it may be a bad idea to drink coffee to sober up.
“The reason is not, as you may suspect, that drinking coffee may make one look un-English, but that the caffeine makes one feel more sober but without counteracting the bad side effects of the booze.”
A passage from the quote above gave me pause. “…drinking coffee may make one look un-English,…” You mean there are actually people who give a crap about the opinion of others while hung over? That shows dedication!

An old, old saying (ancient even when I was a lad) goes “Give a drunk a cup of coffee and all you have is a wide-awake drunk.”
And so the truth is discovered again…

If alcohol gave you the hangover right away, and you felt like a million dollars the next morning, it wouldn’t be considered fit for human consumption.
